Part of why I am here in Georgia involves an internship that I’d like to share about with you.  For about a month now I have taken up a home interning with The World Race(www.theworldrace.org)   The World Race is a program that sends participants 21-32 out into the field to have them experience ministry in 11 countries in 11 months.  We put on training camps for the participants coming in giving them a chance to get to know their teamates, have some team building time, get to hear some amazing speakers and give them a taste of what life on the race is going to be like from the different kinds of foods they will eat to the cultures they will experience.
As “the intern” lol, I basically do whatever they need me to do; little projects/odds and ends here and there. Things with the race are constantly changing and flowing and it’s a little fast pace but fun. The people I work with are really fun too. As an aside the office is a really good enviorment to be in in general, everyone is really hard working but laid back too as well as uplifting. In particular what I’m doing now is reading blogs from those who are out on the race and preparing to go out on the field which is really cool because I get to hear about all the amazing things that they are doing and keep up with their travels.  I am working on the training camp coming up next weekend and planning what all the meals are going to be for the 10 days they are at training camp.  Please pray for me, this really isn’t too easy of a task.  I know that in the end it will all work out but until then….it’s been kind of stressful planning meals speficic to the country theme of that day. I also get to assist Jimmy in getting ministry contacts to the different sites they will be at over the next 11 months.  (Any knowledge of contacts in the DR or Haiti are greatly appreciated ;)) They are coming prepared to stay in the “rough areas,” camp outside or sleep on a church floor.
This training camp coming up is going to be pretty exciting. It is the January 2009 squad and I am excited to follow their journey and get to know who they are when they come!  I hope that you would check out the above link and see what is going on in this movement and how the world is being impacted!
